Aunt Rosa about happiness

— Aunt Rosa!
— Huh?
— Pig’s foot! Write me a note about happiness. On a piece of paper.
— Twelve bucks! For a month. On the spur of the moment!
— And not expensive… You’re so beautiful, auntie!
— And don’t you stare at my megabytes and petabytes! Put a twenty here… Oh! Oh! How beautiful! Your invoice is in the email.
And here’s what Aunt Rosa wrote..
What kind of happiness is that, I ask you?
Oh, my dears, what happiness is that? Just listen to this, and don’t say that Aunt Rosa didn’t tell you!
Happiness is when you do your job and forget everything else! You can believe me, I’ve been standing at the market for thirty years, and I know what I’m talking about! Someone sings like my neighbour Sofochka (oh, I wish she didn’t sing!), someone manages there, like my Borya in his cooperative, and someone, like my nephew Dodik, sows some seeds in the field. And what can I tell you? To each his own!
So what is this happiness?
I’ll tell you this: happiness is when you do what God gave you to do! Everyone has their own destiny, like my daughter-in-law Sarochka, who cooks such cutlets that you can lick your fingers! And when she cooks them, you should see her face! Like an angel’s! So what if she’s an accountant? The main thing is that her soul sings, and she’s not afraid! Let them be afraid whoever eats!
Isn’t it scary to live?
Oh, don’t make me laugh with your fears! Do you know how many times they tried to cheat me at the market? And I’m still alive! But I’ll tell you this: as long as a person is afraid, they will never see happiness, as I did with my first husband after the divorce! That’s what you get for not praying!
Two words about religion
And don’t ask me about religion! You’d better ask me why the price tags at the market have changed again! But I’ll tell you this: all these religions are like different recipes for borscht. The main thing is that it tastes good, and it doesn’t matter what kind of pot it comes from!
And what do you do?
I’ll tell you what to do! You have to:
- Stop being afraid, like my Borya of his mother-in-law
- Find something that makes your soul sing, like a discount on potatoes
- And do it as if there were no more discounts tomorrow!
My advice to you
Do you know what I’m going to say to you in the end? Life is like a bazaar: some people bargain, some people buy, and some people just walk around and look at the prices. So, don’t be the one who just looks! Take your happiness in your hands like a fresh hala on a Friday!
And remember: happiness is not when you have everything, but when you know how to enjoy what you have! How happy I am when my Borya brings me my salary… Oh, that’s another story!
Now go and be happy! And don’t forget to check out my stall – I have a discount on tomatoes today!
You wrote it well..
And inexpensive!
